Research-active clinical oncology
Clinical trials, evidence appraisal and modern cancer medicine.
Clinical research
Dr Rowe previously chaired a national trainee research collaborative and has overseen and contributed to multicentre oncology research. He is Principal Investigator on clinical trials.
His academic interests include urological cancers, radiotherapy, upper gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary cancers, treatment toxicity and improving the evidence base for everyday cancer care.
For patients, this means a strong focus on explaining how new evidence fits — or does not fit — a real-world clinical situation.
Why it matters
Evidence in context.
New oncology studies can be difficult to interpret outside the precise population and setting in which they were conducted. A private consultation can provide time to discuss how trial evidence relates to an individual clinical situation, while recognising that not every emerging treatment is suitable, licensed or routinely available.
