Research & clinical trials
Research-active cancer care.
Mike has a strong interest in collaborative research and translating emerging evidence into practical oncology care.

Clinical research
Mike previously chaired a national trainee research collaborative and has overseen and contributed to multicentre oncology research. He is Principal Investigator on a number of clinical trials.
His academic interests include urological cancers, radiotherapy, upper gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary cancers, treatment toxicity and improving the evidence base for everyday cancer care.
Why it matters
Evidence in context.
New oncology studies can be difficult to interpret outside the precise population and setting in which they were conducted. A private consultation can provide time to discuss how trial evidence relates to an individual clinical situation, while recognising that not every emerging treatment is suitable, licensed or routinely available.
